Addventure Orange Series

Below is a list of answers to the Addventure Orange Series problems. The answers will have to be put together to find the final "escape" answer!

Frog Wars

  • 9 cranes, 7 frogs
    Frogs have 4 legs.
    Cranes have 2 legs.
    There are 2 more cranes than frogs, and 46 legs total.
    If there are 7 frogs, they have 28 legs.
    That leaves 18 legs.
    Cranes have 2 legs each, so 18 ÷ 2 = 9 cranes.
  • Tad 1 frog, Reed 8 frogs, You 9 frogs
    You had x + 3
    Reed had x + 2
    Tad had x − 5
    3x < 20
  • 2 bags roaches, 3 bags crickets, 1 bag mealworms
    a = bags of roaches (19¢)
    b = bags of crickets (13¢)
    c = bags of mealworms (8¢)
    a + b + c = 6 (total bags)
    19a + 13b + 8c = 85 (total spent)
    guess and check, if a = 2 plug in and check
  • Started with 24 frogs
    After round 1: half go to “Maybe” → x/2
    Round 2: add 4 new frogs → “Maybe” has x/2 + 4
    Final round: add the same number as are in “Maybe” → you double it
  • 31 matches
    Each match eliminates exactly one frog.
    You start with 32 frogs and want 1 winner.
    To go from 32 frogs down to 1, you must eliminate 31 frogs.
    Each elimination takes one match.
  • Lane 1: Mrs. Poppy in purple 16 ft
    Lane 2: Mr. Hopper in orange  18 ft
    Lane 3: Mrs. Overfield in red 6 ft
    Lane 4: Mr. Puddle in blue 24 ft
    Lane 5: Mrs Heron in pink 31 ft

Lost Lambs

  • 15 rectangles
    1 = full rectangle
    5 = small rectangles
    4 = two combined rectangles
    3 = three combined rectangles
    2 = four combined rectangles
  • 18 sheep by dog, 6 sheep by you
    The total is between 20 and 30, so 4x must be one of: 24 or 28.
    If 4x=24, then x=6 → dog has 18.
    Both even numbers
  • Barrel = 20 lbs
    The wool barrel weighs 40 pounds total, so:
    barrel + wool = 40
    x+w=40
    You’re told the grain weighs twice as much as the wool, so:
    grain = 2w
    The grain barrel weighs 60 pounds total, so:
    barrel + grain = 60
    x+2w=60
  • BamBam is yellow, Ruffles is blue, and YoYo is red
  • 45 handshakes
    Each person shakes hands with 9 others.
    That looks like 10×9=90,
    but every handshake involves two people,
    so each one gets counted twice.
    So divide by 2.
  • 252 meters
    From Marker 1 to Marker 10, you pass 9 gaps between markers
    (1→2, 2→3, …, 9→10).
    So the distance is: 9×28=252

Bear Scare

  • 8 deer, 14 squirrels
    A squirrel has 4 legs
    A deer has 2 ears + 1 tail + 4 legs = 7 body parts
    Your friend notices:Total squirrel legs = total deer ears + tails + legs
    guess and check
  • 30 logs
    Odd-numbered kids are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11.
    Each brings back logs equal to their number:
    1+3+5+7+9+11=36 logs gathered.
    Even-numbered kids are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 — that’s 6 kids.
    Each one takes 1 log and sets it aside for the second night.
    So subtract those:
    36−6=30
  • 3 arrows (5 point circle), 5 arrows (9 point circle) 1 arrow (15 point circle)
    guess and check
    x = arrows in the 5-point outer circle
    y = arrows in the 9-point middle circle
    z = arrows in the 15-point bullseye
  • Bears will come out together at 2:55
    Momma bear and cub appear every 25 minutes
    Big bear appears every 35 minutes
    They’ll all show up together at the least common multiple of 25 and 35.
    Break them down:
    25 = 5×5
    35 = 5×7
    LCM = 5×5×7=1752 hours 55 minutes
  • 12 meters
    Let the total length of the log be L.
    You’re told:
    One-third of the log is buried
    8 meters is above ground
    So the exposed part is two-thirds of the log:
  • Badger hole

Abandoned House

  • Jordan, you, Rory, Amari
  • 13
    2 more than 100” is 102.
    So the number must satisfy:
    7x + 11=102
    Subtract 11:
    7x = 91
    Divide by 7:
    x=13x
  • 2:43 is time on grandfather clock, and it’s chimed 36 times
    Your watch shows 3:30
    (hour hand on 3, minute hand on 6).
    Now go 47 minutes earlier.
    Back up 30 minutes → 3:00
    Back up the remaining 17 minutes → 2:43
  • Amari - Dining Room, Jordan - kitchen, Rory - Bedroom, You - den
  • 30 squares
    1 = large square
    9 = 2 x 2 squares
    4 = 3 x 3 squares
    16 = small squares
  • $4.62
    One-eighth are silver dollars
    24÷8=3 silver dollars → $3.00
    One-fourth are quarters
    24÷4=6 quarters → 6 × 25¢ = $1.50
    One-half are pennies
    24÷2=12 pennies → 12 × 1¢ = $0.12
    Now add it all up:
    3.00+1.50+0.12=4.62

The Lost Sea

  • 14,300 gold coins
    The coins increase by 500 more each week
  • Letter O
    The number of a letter increases by 2 and the letters increase by 1
    So letter position = (number/2)
    For 30:
    30/2 = 15, the 15th letter is O
  • Under letter M
  • 5 oranges
    Half the fruit are apples → remaining fruit = ½ of the total
    One-third of the remaining fruit are oranges
    → oranges = ⅓ of ½ = 1⁄6 of the total fruit
    So:
    Number of oranges = (total fruit) ÷ 6
  • A = 9, E = 2
    guess and check
  • 171 km
    There are 9 gaps between Island E to N
    9 x 19 = 171

Pirates Treasure

  • Head SW
    How to read the ledger
    Each vertical line represents a letter,
    location of the letter on the grid follows the horizontal lines
    Example: 3 vertical lines, left of horizontal line
    and
    2 vertical lines, right of horizontal line
    equals letter H (3 over and 2 down)
  • 30 degrees
    Let the number be x.
    First condition:
    Add 12 and the result is less than twice the number:
    x+12<2x
    This simplifies to:
    x>12
    Second condition:
    Subtract 10 and the result is 5 more than half the number:
    x − 10 = 1/2x + 5
    x − 1/2x = 15
    1/2x = 15
    x = 30
  • $4 in coins
    Break them up by fractions:
    Nickels: one sixth of 24 → 24÷6=4 nickels
    Dimes: one third of 24 → 24÷3=8 dimes
    Quarters: one half of 24 → 24÷2=12 quarters
    Now find the value:
    4 nickels = 4×5¢=20¢
    8 dimes = 8×10¢=80¢
    12 quarters = 12 × 25¢ = 300¢ = $3.00
    Add them up:
    20¢+80¢+300¢=400¢
  • 24 km
  • 5 correct answers
    There are 10 questions, so wrong answers = 10−c
    Scoring rule:
    +10 points for each correct
    −1 point for each wrong
    Total score:
    10c−1(10−c)=45
    Simplify:
    10c−10+c=45
    11c=55
    c=5
